This is the project that I will be working on is a bag using the McCall's # 8065 "E" am using a thrift find a yard and half that I got back in San Diego, Ca., for $0.95 and is a nice decorating weight fabric, for the lining am using a walmart back when they used to have $0.50 a yard is a nice gabardine like material.

Hopefully I can finish this before the end of the week, am waiting on a dress form my awesome husband got me a Hancock is been like 3 weeks and still they have not gotten the orders in the warehouse been told but am getting ansi, really want to star on this 2 patterns.

For the first one am going to use a nice rayon fabric (pic coming tomorrow) and for the last one I have my eyes on vintage fabric on ebay (crossing fingers hope I get it) to make it.

Am very happy to tell the world but specially my little Sophia that I have finish her vintage cape

Well that is the pic with out her buttons but is all done, I have forgotten how to finish the arm openings, need to do another one for my little Nicole and one for me, but for her to use this around the house and not be cold and still feel like a little lady.

I also made this form for when I make them clothes my girls hate to stand still even for a few seconds.

finally some pics!!!

Well here it is my idol, my hero, my MOM!!!!! Always dress so elegant!!!

This picture was taken before I was born, she made that outfit (sorry but the scaner is on sick leave).

Here I am in the graduation party !!! of course my mom's fab dress was made by her too!!! can you tell 1970's!!!!

All my childhood I saw my mom on the sewing machine or hand stich dresses, pants etc,, for her and her clients, she also had a couple of show girls that commissioned my mom for stage costumes, also she made outfits for a classical dancer, I was always amaze in how the just described what they wanted and my mom will do a rough sketch, the next time they came it was like magic what they have imagine was there in my moms hands ready for them to enjoy!!!

Now this is a 1/2 family pic my younger brother Peter was not born yet, this is proof that my mamita dress up even for a day in the beach!! always pretty!! always a Lady!! my little bro Tony!! and of course that lucky man!! my Apa (nickname for Dad)!!!

My mom she is why I love to sew, she is the one that gave me such a valuable gift, knowing how to sew, knowing that even do you don't have the monies to spend on nice expensive clothing you can still distinguish yourself from the rest,  in my early 20's I made most of my clothing, always had a new dress for any party I was invited to, always had a new shirt or new skirt for work, now I try to make my little girls clothes that only they have, and they are starting to embrace the "Conchita motto" (my mom).

Well I hope that too will find a reason to embrace sewing, for you or others!!!

Always looking to hear your comments or you're stories!!!

some snags

All I wanted this weekend was to scan my pics, and to take some pics of some of the ufo's that I have to share with you all, but my scaner is not working, I got a killer ear pain, and add 3 kids to the mix not enough time or energy.

And there is always more, my Dad got sick and ended up at the hospital, (I have only seen this man sick 3 times in my whole life) he's going to be ok still in the hospital.

to think about the future,, I have to remember the past

I was looking at some of my pictures trying to find my sewing creations from my youth found just a few.

What I really found is the source of my inspiration, the
fashionista of my childhood, the most elegant lady in my life,,, my mami (mum/mom),,, in every picture I found that my mom keep up with trends and fashion, every single garment hand made by her, I was amazed in how my mamita always look good, hair, make up,clothing. With 3 young kids, a demanding husband she manage to make every meal from scratch, breakfast, lunch and 3 course dinner every day!! I just don't know how she did it!! and on top of that sew, knit, crochet, and embroider for my brother's and me, even my dad got dress shirts, shorts and pants!!! ( I truly believe that my mom was wonder woman).

I will try to scan some of the pics to share with you and maybe you will feel inspired to share some of your own hidden treasures that may lie in a forgotten photo album, am sure that some of you had a wonder woman for a mom too, or maybe you had the double luck to have a wonder woman as a grandma too.

for now this is it. till next time!

End and Start

The end of the year,,,, the start of my new adventure!!

This year I want to end it, with a project that I been day dreaming for a couple of years now, and today I decided to actually start my business of vintage reproduction of clothing, accessory's for toddles, girls and women.

And the reason for this blog is to keep me in focus and some what on track.  I have a new baby girl and she like my other girls demands most of my time during the day, she loves to take naps on my lap, and there is not too much I can do while she naps, so am taking this first step in planing and getting help from some of you who might have been were I am today.

I have started the first steps in getting a little business like mine started, I have a little Etsy webstore where I have tested the waters of my selling, shipping of some of my little creations, I want to start with already made reproductions of clothing and see how they do and how well I can make them, been sewing for my little girls for about 4 years, and for myself for at least 25 something years.

I have been buying vintage sewing patterns for 4 years now, and I have according to my loving husband "a problem" lol... and  am so embarrassed to confess that fabric is my real problem, vintage or new has to be mine!!

My love for sewing comes from my Mamita (mom) she support us when I was a baby making dresses for all the lady's in our neighborhood and their friends, she was offer to run a couture house in texas in the early 70's that's how good she is!!

Then she left the sewing and raised us 3 kids,  then she started her sewing business again,, only this time she was dressing one of the most iconic woman in fashion "Barbie" yes she was making dresses for Barbie and selling them at her little store, she had all kind of little girls( from 3 years to 40) coming to get her majestic dresses, ( I so kick myself for not taking pic's of them),  she made all kind of dresses, her clients will bring a photo of a dress from a magazine like vogue and she would replicate the dress to the last detail, it was amazing!!

I will never be as talented as my Mamita, but I can only try!! she taught me how to hand stitch, embroidery, sewing, how to crochet and knit I was just a dumb teen that saw it as a bother,, now how I wish I can go back in time and learn all the wonderful skills she wanted for me to have.

So for now am thankful for your time and I would love to hear from you!!
